Library media services at the Jay Westfield Elementary School strive to prepare all students for productive, responsible citizenship, college or career readiness, and personal fulfillment in a complex, ever-changing world.
As information specialists and instructional partners, library media specialists enrich curriculum, develop students’ multiple literacies and critical thinking, and foster the lifelong enjoyment of reading and authentic learning in all disciplines by:
providing equitable physical and intellectual access for all students, faculty, staff, and community members to learning services and resources including equipment, technologies, and information media; and
collaborating with teaching staff to promote the skills, dispositions, and responsibilities entailed in the use and exchange of information in all formats, modeling appropriate, effective, and ethical strategies for inquiry, research, creativity, innovation, collaboration, and communication.
